A Symposium on “COMMON INFECTIONS IN PAKISTAN” was held at FUMC on 24th Oct 2019 as part of CPD/CME activity in Foundation University Islamabad. It was accredited for 03 contact hours by PMDC. The symposium was organized by Microbiology faculty of Pathology department of FUMC. The organizing committee included Prof Dr. Faiza Kazi, Prof Dr. Shahid Ahmad Abbasi, Dr. Irum Aftab, Dr. Fatima Kaleem and Dr. Umme Farwa. The symposium was graced by the presence of five distinguished microbiologists Brig (Retd) Javaid Usman Rao, Professor of Microbiology Army Medical College NUMS, Brig. Irfan Ali Mirza Head of Department Microbiology, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Lt. Col. Umar Khurshid, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and Dr. Mehreen Gilani Asst. Professor of Microbiology Army Medical College NUMS. The other participants included many consultants, Faculty members and post graduate trainees from AFIP,AMC and FFH. There were a total of 65 participants along with the students of 3rd year MBBS, 5th and 6th semester DPT and Post RN nursing students. The symposium ended with lots of positive energy, the enthusiasm of gaining more knowledge, working harder and with the prayers in our heart and mind that may ALLAH make us more beneficial for our patients (ameen).
